Description
The Congregational Church, built in 1872, replaces an earlier church from 1790. It is designed in a Gothic style with French influences. This large stone church features a spire and is prominently situated at the top of the junction with Field Lane, elevated above the street. The steeply pitched roof is made of banded slate, adorned with iron cresting and coped gables. A tower with a brooch spire is located above the porch at the southwest corner. The nave has six windows, separated by buttresses, with the eastern section having one lower bay. There is a four-light window facing Green Lane, showcasing plate tracery. Additionally, there is a polygonal section at the north-west corner.
