Description
The Central Methodist Church, formerly known as Trinity Methodist Church, dates from around 1835. This stone chapel features a symmetrical facade and is accessed from the street through a churchyard. It is built of ashlar and has two storeys, with five sash windows that include glazing bars. The central section of the facade is slightly advanced and topped with a pediment, cornice, and blocking course. There is a solid Tuscan porch at the center, with a doorcase that includes pilasters and a pediment.
The interior has been modernized, but it retains an original gallery on three sides with a panelled front, supported by posts. The church also houses a fine organ and displays many memorial tablets and monuments.
