Description
No. 17 Belper Lane is a small two-storey house built in the early to mid 19th century, as indicated on the 1844 Tithe map. It was originally a lodge for Jedidiah Strutt's house, Bridge Hill House, which has since been demolished. The building is constructed of coursed stone and features a corbelled stone band between the ground and first floors, as well as wide bracketed eaves. It has large stone chimneys at the center and ends. The gable end faces south and downhill, showcasing a three-light casement window on each floor with stone mullions and dripstone moulds above. The western side includes a stone porch with a band that serves as a cornice and a blocking course above, along with two small gables on the facade.
