Description
Hayne House, located on Melton Road, is an early 18th-century building constructed from ashlar stone with rusticated quoins. It features a moulded cornice at the eaves and is topped with a stone slate roof. The house is two stories high with attics and includes five pedimented dormers, the central one having a semi-circular pediment. There are seven windows with plain stone surrounds and small keystones, and the ground floor windows do not have glazing bars. The building is accented by rusticated quoins, a stone band, and a plinth. The central entrance boasts a six-panel door set in a moulded stone frame with a keystone, topped by a semi-circular moulded hood supported by brackets. Above the door, there is a date stone inscribed with "TD 1719". The sides of the house are finished with coursed rubble. Inside, there is a notable staircase from the same period.
