Description
This building is a granary with a dovecote, located approximately 50 metres south of Methley Bridge Farmhouse. It dates from the early 19th century and is constructed of handmade brown brick in a random bond pattern, topped with a corrugated sheet roof. The structure is a single cell and stands 3½ storeys tall.
The gabled south front features a segmental-arched wagon doorway on the right, which has wooden double doors with handmade strap hinges. To the left of the doorway is a square window, and in the centre at the first floor, there is a larger square window. At the top of the gable, there is a round-headed opening for the pigeon loft, complete with a prominent perching ledge.
On the left return wall, there is a segmental-headed doorway and a square window at ground level, along with a blocked square window above. The right return wall has one window on each floor, and all windows are topped with flat-arched brick heads. Although the interior was not inspected, it is reported that the loft is lined with nesting boxes.
