Description

66 Westgate is a bank building from the early 20th century, possibly designed by T B Whinney, featuring a decorative style. The structure is one and a half storeys tall and consists of five bays, characterized by giant Corinthian order fluted columns that stand on projecting plinths. These columns support an entablature adorned with a modillion cornice. Above, a tall parapet with alternating panelled and balustraded sections largely hides a high-pitched roof covered in graduated green slate.

The upper half-storey windows are framed with architraves that include feet, ears, and wheat trails, although they have modern glazing. The ground-floor windows are tall, round-arched with glazing bars and margin lights, also set within architraves featuring triple keystones that extend to the cills of the windows above. At each end of the elevation, there are pedimented double doorways framed by architraves with ears and feet, with the doors being modern replacements.
