Description

The Farm, formerly known as Weetwood Nurseries, is a farmhouse located on Weetwood Mill Lane in Leeds. It dates back to the 17th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century and a conversion in 1988. The building is rendered and has a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high with two bays and a rear outshut. The central entrance features a 20th-century porch. To the left of the entrance, there is a 4-light recessed chamfered mullion window on both the ground and first floors, while a 4-pane sash window is located to the right, with an inserted window in the centre of the first floor. A brown brick stack is positioned on the right side of the building.

Inside, there are two ground-floor rooms, each with a spine beam. The left beam has a scarfed joint, indicating the location of a former timber-framed fire hood. The stairs are located opposite the entrance, next to a timber-framed partition wall, with the cross beam and studs visible in the first-floor room on the right.

The Farm is part of a larger farm complex that was once part of the Englefield estate, which was sold along with Weetwood Lodge and 160 acres of land in 1858. This sale likely coincided with the installation of the 4-pane sash windows and the resetting of the ground floor right mullioned window to the upper floor after the eaves were raised. Benjamin Wilson was noted as the farmer of Weetwood Farm in 1888.
