Description

A row of three early 19th-century cottages, now converted into two dwellings, is located on the south side of Westgate in Wetherby. The cottages are constructed of coursed squared magnesian limestone with pantile roofs. The two-storey facade originally featured four windows on the first floor, with an outshut to the rear. Number 21, on the left, has a partly-glazed door beneath a plain lintel. To the left of the door is a 16-pane sash window with a projecting stone sill and stone lintel. The first-floor window above is a two-light horizontally-sliding sash with glazing bars set on a projecting stone sill. The cottage to the right has a similar door, flanked by a narrow casement on the right and a two-light horizontally-sliding sash with glazing bars on the left. A small, early 19th-century canted bay window, with casements and glazing bars on a cantilevered stone sill, is situated further to the left. The first-floor window above the canted bay window is a latching casement, differing from the other first-floor windows which resemble those of Number 21. The row features two cement-rendered ridge stacks.
