Description
No. 4 New York Street is a bank building dated 1900, located at the corner of Kirkgate and New York Street. It features a brick and terracotta construction with lead domes. The building has three storeys and an attic, with a curved corner and the main entrance facing west. The entrance includes a glazed door with a blocked overlight, flanked by square-headed windows, with four windows on each street facade. A moulded plaque displaying the date is located on the first floor, flanked by narrow lights and cross windows, while the second floor has plain fenestration. The ground floor and the sill bands on the first and second floors are made of terracotta, which also features an eaves blocking course. Above the eaves, there is a drum tower topped with a lead dome and an ornate finial, supported by short columns with pierced walling between. The base of the tower is flanked by small domes behind a pierced blocking course. The interior has not been inspected.
