Description
Nos 8 to 14 on Charles Street are a block of four cottages built in the late 18th century. They are two storeys high, constructed of ashlar stone, and topped with a stone slate roof. The cottages feature paired doorways with moulded stone architraves and cornices, and rectangular fanlights, with the fanlight above No 14 being ornamental. Each door consists of six panels. There are three moulded stone chimney stacks, and the eaves cornice is made of stone, which forms the eaves gutter. The cottages do not have glazing bars, and there is a modern door at No 10, along with modern glazing at the rear, although the staircase windows remain unchanged. This group of cottages is included as a late example of traditional style.
