Description

A row of cottages dating to the mid-18th century, with 19th-century additions and alterations. The cottages are constructed of red brick, with stone slate roofs to numbers 222-228 and a slate roof to number 220. They have two storeys and seven first-floor windows, with a rear outshut. Quoins are visible on the left side. The cottages feature plain doors, segmental arches over the ground-floor openings, and four-pane sash windows. The left-hand three-window range resembles a mid-18th century house, with end stacks, now divided into two cottages, with additional bays added to the east. Each additional bay has a stack positioned to the right. The interior has not been inspected. Number 228 was reputedly used as a Methodist meeting house until around 1860. Number 220 currently serves as the office for the Leeds City Council Countryside Ranger Service.
