Description
Nos 21 and 31 in Butterly are a former large detached house, now divided into two houses, dating from 1742. The building is constructed of ashlar stone with rusticated quoins and features a stone slate roof that has gable copings on moulded kneelers with a scroll pattern. There are three ashlar stacks, two of which have mouldings. The structure has two storeys and an attic, forming an L-shaped plan, with each dwelling presenting a three-bay symmetrical facade.
No 21 features sash windows with slightly moulded surrounds and a false keystone, along with a central door that has a very decorative head and a small cornice. No 31 has a mix of sash windows and casements, with a central door that has a shaped lintel inscribed with "IK 1742." There is also a recent single light window to the right of the door.
