Description
Town Head Farmhouse and the adjoining cottage date from the early to mid 18th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed stone, with very deeply coursed millstone grit on the north gable and quoins. The buildings feature a stone slate roof with gable copings on moulded kneelers. Originally, there were two good ashlar stacks with mouldings, but one has been truncated. The farmhouse is two storeys high.
On the west elevation, there are two 4-light chamfered and recessed stone mullioned windows on each floor. The ground floor window on the left has been altered to accommodate a doorway. There is a central 3-light window on the first floor. To the right is a slightly later addition, Town Head cottage, which has a recent single-storey extension. The east elevation has been altered but still includes one 4-light chamfered and recessed window.
