Description
Nos 13 to 21 on Railway Street is a mid-19th century building constructed of ashlar stone with a hipped slate roof. It stands three storeys high with a basement. The building features a deeply moulded cornice with modillions and dentils at the eaves. Above the ground floor, there is a full entablature, and continuous moulded sill bands run along the first and second floors. The ground floor is horizontally rusticated and is enhanced by Ionic three-quarter columns, which are paired at the corners. The corners of the building are marked by raised quoins.
There are ten ranges of sash windows; the ground floor windows, except for one at the north end, are round-arched, with most being paired and featuring shallow relief carving in the spandrels. The ground floor also includes two panelled doors with semi-circular fanlights. The first-floor windows have sunk and moulded aprons, flanked by consoles, and are adorned with moulded frames, pulvinated friezes, and cornices. The second-floor windows also have moulded frames. Above the six southernmost bays, there is a plain attic with a moulded eaves cornice.
