Description

No. 7 St George's Square is a mid-19th century building constructed from ashlar stone, featuring a hipped slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with a basement. The building is adorned with a deeply moulded cornice that has modillions and dentils, and it has a full entablature above the ground floor. Continuous moulded sill bands run along the first and second floors. The ground floor is horizontally rusticated and is enhanced by Ionic three-quarter columns at the corners. The building has raised quoins and five ranges of sash windows facing St George's Square. The ground floor windows include sunk and moulded aprons, while the first-floor windows also have sunk and moulded aprons, flanked by consoles, and feature moulded frames, pulvinated friezes, and cornices. The second-floor windows have moulded frames. The entrance door is topped with an oblong fanlight. The area railings are made of cast iron, with arched tops and bottoms, and include traceried piers.

The elevation facing Station Street is a simpler version of the main façade, with pilasters replacing the three-quarter columns. It features a semi-circular carriage entrance at the south end, complete with a keystone, moulded imposts, spandrel stones, and cast iron gates. Next to this entrance is a door with a moulded frame and cornice.
