Description
The Fleece Public House is a building that likely dates from the 18th century and was altered in the mid to late 19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a pitched stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and a gutter supported by cut stone brackets, which appear to be from the 19th century. The raised quoins are probably from the 18th century. There are five ranges of sash windows set in plain raised surrounds. The entrance includes a 19th-century door with five moulded panels and a fanlight that has "Fleece Hotel" in stained glass lettering. This door is framed by a 19th-century wooden surround with Tuscan pilasters that support broad fluted consoles, which in turn support a moulded cornice and pediment.
