Description

This is a mid-19th century block of shops and offices on Trinity Street, built of ashlar with a pitched slate roof and a moulded eaves cornice and blocking course. The building comprises two ranges, numbers 141 to 161 (odd). The windows are sashes, with Nos. 151 and 161 having moulded surrounds. The ground floor features canted bays supported by Tuscan piers, topped with moulded cornices, blocking courses, and acroteria. The doors have moulded panels; those at No. 145 have a fanlight. These doors are framed by Tuscan pilasters, full entablatures, and blocking courses, except for Nos. 145, 147, and 149, which have simpler stone frames with moulded cornices and blocking courses. Passage entrances, present except at Nos. 141, 157, and 159, have moulded voussoirs and imposts, with the entrance at No. 161 now blocked. The Group Value context recognises the building as a significant element within the surrounding streetscape.
