Description

This terrace of shops and banks dates from the early to mid-19th century and has been altered over time. It is constructed of ashlar stone with a stone slate roof and a moulded eaves cornice. The building is three storeys high, with a sill band to the second floor and a surviving sill band to the first floor. Recent shop and bank frontages now occupy the ground floor. The frontage of No. 28, dating from the 1920s or 30s, extends up to the first floor. The rest of the first floor and the entire second floor retain their original appearance. The façade is symmetrical, featuring 11 sash windows with glazing bars to the second floor and 5 sash windows to the first floor. The two-storey frontage of No. 28 has six rounded, moulded archways with glazed bars, and a doorway to the left.
