Description

Number 21 (western portion) and Number 23 is a large stone house dating from the late 18th century. It stands three storeys high, with the main rear elevation featuring seven windows in the centre and two additional windows at each end. The central doorway is flanked by a pair of engaged Doric columns and topped with a pediment, while there is a slightly enriched window above it. The building has a modillion eaves-cornice and a hipped stone roof.

A long single-storey wing of red brick and stone extends southwards from the west end of the main front, which includes Venetian windows and two doorways, along with parapets. The centre of this wing has been replaced by a greenhouse. The rear elevation is blind and has a rougher, partly altered appearance, featuring projecting wings with two windows each and Venetian openings on the ground floor. The central doorway here is of a similar design to the main entrance.

There is a two-storey addition to the east, which is part of Number 21, and a three-storey addition to the west, which is Number 25; however, these additions are not of particular interest. The interior retains a large staircase hall that is somewhat interesting, with decorative elements on the ceiling and main doorcase. Other rooms have not been fully inspected, but some slight decoration remains.
