Description
Nos 1 to 9 on Giles Street, built around 1850-55, form a stepped terrace of small two-storey houses. They are similar in style to the houses at Nos 2 to 16 opposite but are constructed from slightly larger sandstone bricks. The terrace features a swept plinth and a sill band, along with slate roofs and corniced chimneys. The doorways are painted ashlar with Tuscan pilasters, matching the details found at Nos 2 to 14. This group is noted as an intact example of a small-scale streetscape from that period.
