Main block to Lilycroft Board School SE 1434 NE 27/1172

  1. 1872-73 by Hope and Jardine for the Bradford School Board. Long single storey range of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. Designed in a late C13 Gothic, the range is broken up symmetrically with kneelered gables over taller windows, cross gabled wings and off centre group of gabled hall with triple group of lancets with trefoils flanked by gabled porches; that to left is base of tower with chamfered corners broached to octagonal belfry with short stone spire pierced by gablets. Steep slate roofs. The hall has carved angel brackets supporting roof trusses.
