Description
Butler House is a house dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a double-depth, two-cell plan. The building features raised quoins, a plinth, sill bands, and a moulded eaves cornice. The symmetrical facade has three bays, with a doorway that includes pilasters, an entablature, and an open pediment, along with a fan-light and a six-panel door. On either side of the doorway are two-light flat-faced mullioned windows, which have slightly recessed mullions, and the ground floor windows have lowered sills. Above the doorway is a single-light window. All windows were originally sashed. The gables are coped and feature stacks. Built into the wall to the left of the front door is a decorative date plaque that is initialled and dated "TB," which was reused from an earlier cottage that was demolished nearby in 1726.
