Description

Ball Street Bridge is a road bridge that spans the River Don. It was originally built around 1856, rebuilt in 1864, and widened in 1900. The bridge was made by the Milton Iron Works in Elsecar. It features three cast-iron spans supported by ashlar piers that have cusped trefoil and quatrefoil spandrels. The bridge includes ashlar pedestals topped with stepped square caps. A traceried cast-iron balustrade and handrail runs along the bridge, with panelled piers, the central pier being larger than the others.
