Description
The stable block and dovecote, located approximately 20 metres north of Thurnscoe Hall, are now disused structures dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The buildings are constructed of brick in English Garden Wall bond, with the rear wall partly made of stone and a damaged stone slate roof.
The stable block is two storeys high and consists of three bays. It features a central door with a round brick arch, and the flanking windows lack sills, showcasing cambered brick arches and remnants of sash windows with glazing bars. There is a central pitching-hole flanked by similar blind windows, and a dentil course runs along the eaves.
The dovecote has altered ground-floor openings, and its loft includes an unglazed lunette with a projecting sill and an ashlar surround. The eaves also have a dentil detail. Attached buildings to the left are not of special interest. The stable block and dovecote are included for their group value.
