Description
The Former Weigh Office, now used as an office, was built in 1875 and has undergone minor alterations in the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick with ashlar dressings and features asphalt and slate roofs. The building has a brick plinth, an ashlar cill band, and linked ashlar lintels, along with a moulded ashlar eaves cornice. It is a single-storey structure.
The north-west entrance front includes a central doorway with a 4-panel door and a clock positioned above it. On either side of the doorway are single narrow sash windows. The south-west front features an early 20th-century single 7-light casement window with sliding sashes, which overlooks the metal weighing machine that is buried below ground. The north-east front has two plate-glass sash windows. At the rear, there is a small addition with a pitched roof, which includes plate glass sash windows and a single 4-panel door.
