Description

This building is a stable and granary range located approximately 50 metres south-east of Tetley Hall, built around 1787 for George Stovin. It features red-brown brick with ashlar dressings and pantile roofs, arranged in an L-shape. The north side of the stable/granary range is two storeys high with two first-floor openings. The entrance on the left has a cambered brick arch with a chamfered ashlar keystone and quoins, leading to a board door. To the right is a round-headed opening with a slatted wooden ventilator beneath a keyed brick arch. The first floor includes a round-headed door on the right and a rectangular opening on the left with two rows of pigeon holes beneath a wooden hood. The eaves cornice is stepped and cogged brick, and the gables are stone-coped with shaped kneelers.

The south stable range is a single storey with an attic and has one window. It features a round-headed doorway on the right with a chamfered ashlar keystone and quoins, and a round-headed opening on the left with a slatted ventilator beneath a keyed brick arch. There is also an inserted hatch to the left and a dentilled brick eaves cornice, with a small attic opening beneath the stone-coped gable. A low two-storey western addition to the left has a cart entrance beneath a timber lintel, a dentilled brick eaves cornice, and a hipped roof. The south side of the stable/granary has a blocked doorway with ashlar quoins and a keystone. This building is similar in style and materials to the former stable range to the south, which features wrought-iron letters "G S" and an incomplete date of "178-".
