Description

The Priory is a house dating from around 1800, with a gable and roof added in 1984. It is constructed of brick and has a pantile roof. The layout is double-depth, featuring an entrance hall on the left and a stair hall situated between the front and rear rooms. To the left, there are two rooms designated as a kitchen and servants' accommodation. The building stands two storeys high with an attic and has three bays, with a slightly projecting central section. There is also a single-storey and attic three-bay extension to the left.

The entrance features stone steps leading to a doorcase that includes reeded pilasters, fluted brackets, a plain entablature, and an open dentilled pediment. The door is a six-fielded-panel design with a radial fanlight set in a panelled reveal. To the right of the entrance, there is an arched cast-iron bootscraper. The windows on the ground floor are 12-pane sashes set in reveals, featuring painted rubbed brick cambered arches and stucco cills. The smaller first-floor windows are similar, although the central window has been painted over. A 20th-century gable and lateral stack are located to the right.

On the left side of the house, there are two 20th-century casement windows and an inserted garage door at the left end. Inside, there is an arch leading to the stair hall, adorned with pilasters and a dentilled cornice. The open well staircase features a ramped and wreathed handrail, column newels, and reeded balusters. The ground floor rear and first-floor rooms have good Adam-style chimney pieces with composition ornament. Throughout the house, there are panelled window shutters and six-fielded-panel doors set in architraves.
