Description

The Grange is a farmhouse that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century, with later alterations and additions made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond and features a Welsh slate roof. It has a rectangular plan with a central entrance hall on the south front and additional structures at the rear.

The exterior is two stories high and has a symmetrical three-window arrangement. A 20th-century six-pane glazed door is set beneath the original three-pane overlight, all within a chamfered brick reveal and topped with a wedge lintel. The ground floor includes flat-roofed canted bay windows with sash windows that have glazing bars, framed by pilastered surrounds. The first floor features recessed six-over-six sash windows in chamfered brick reveals beneath lintels. The eaves are stepped in brick, and the gable is raised and capped with brick.

The right side of the building has a straight joint leading to a later 19th-century addition, which includes a ground-floor rectangular bay window with twin six-over-six sashes, and single six-over-six sashes on each floor beneath cambered brick arches. The left side and rear of the building also have six-over-six sashes, along with inserted 20th-century sashes with glazing bars and a 19th-century canted ground-floor bay window.

Inside, there is an open-well staircase featuring alternating plain and slender column balusters.
