Description

This building is a barn, cartshed, and granary range constructed in 1856 by S S Teulon for the Crown Commissioners. It is located on the north side of a foldyard, approximately 50 metres north of Church Farmhouse. The structure is made of banded orange-brown and red brick with yellow brick dressings and has an asbestos roof. It is rectangular in shape, featuring a cartshed range on the west side and a through-passage to the foldyard on the east side, forming the north side of the foldyard.

The building has two storeys. On the north side, there are five openings on the first floor. The left section includes a wagon entrance with double board doors under a timber lintel, a small board hatch door beneath a segmental arch, and a board door beneath a yellow brick segmental-pointed arch. There is also an inserted 4-pane segmental-headed window. A central brick staircase with flagstone treads leads to the first-floor granary door. The cartshed section on the right features a four-bay arcade of segmental arches supported by rounded square brick piers, with three circular tie-bar ends above inscribed "YOUNG & PECK LTD. HULL."

On the first floor, there is a central board door beneath a timber lintel, flanked by a pair of centrally-pivoted 4-pane casements to the right, a similar casement and pitching hatch with a board door, and a blocked hatch to the left, all beneath segmental arches. The board doors are fitted with plain wrought-iron strap hinges. The roof is half-hipped, with stepped eaves and tumbled-in brick at the gables.

On the south side, there is a segmental-pointed board door with a pair of breather slits to the right. The first floor has a segmental-headed board door, a breather slit to the right, and four segmental-headed hatches to the left. This building is part of a series of mid-19th century Crown estate buildings designed by Teulon and is included for its group value.
