Description

This gravestone, located approximately 20 metres south-west of the Church of St Nicholas, dates from 1743 and commemorates Mary Tock and her children. It is made of sandstone ashlar and features a shaped head with rustic relief carving. The central design includes a cherub's head flanked by flowers that also bear cherub's heads. This gravestone is noted as one of the best examples of 18th-century carved gravestones in the East Riding, as highlighted by N. Pevsner in "The Buildings of England: Yorkshire, East Riding."
