Description
Sykes Farmhouse is a house built in the mid-18th century. It is constructed of brick with stone dressings and has a pantiled roof. The layout follows a hearth-passage plan and the building stands two storeys high with attics, featuring five bays arranged in a 1:1:3 pattern.
The entrance consists of a six-panel door with an oblong fanlight that has glazing bars, all set under a wedge lintel. To the left of the door is a 16-pane sash window with a sill, and to the right is a 20th-century French window, also with glazing bars, under a wedge lintel. There is another 16-pane sash window on the far right.
On the first floor, there is a sash window with glazing bars and a sill positioned above the door, and a 16-pane sash window to the left. To the right, there are three sliding sash windows with glazing bars and sills, all under wedge lintels. The house features a dentilled brick eaves cornice, with end and axial stacks, and the raised gables display tumbled-in brickwork.
