Description
Inglenook is a house dating from the mid-18th century, with some later minor alterations. It is constructed of red-brown brick, which has been whitewashed on the front, and features a pantile roof. The building has a two-room lobby-entry plan, with a small store-room on the left and stairs located behind the stack. It stands two storeys tall and has two first-floor windows.
The entrance consists of a boarded door located to the right of center, which is set beneath a segmental arch. This door is flanked by single 20th-century casement windows in their original openings, each with sills beneath segmental arches. To the left, there is a small 20th-century casement window in the original store-room ventilation hatch. On the first floor, there are a pair of 20th-century casement windows in original openings, also with sills beneath segmental arches. The building features a dentilled brick eaves cornice and tumbled-in brick at the raised gables. The ridge stack has been rebuilt in the 20th century.
Inside, the left room includes an inglenook fireplace with a chamfered bressumer, chamfered joists, and a spine beam with stepped tongue stops. A single-flight staircase is positioned beside the stack.
