Description
This cowshed range was built in 1856 by S S Teulon for the Crown Commissioners and is located on the east side of a foldyard, approximately 50 metres northeast of Church Farmhouse. It is constructed of banded orange-brown and red brick with a pantile roof, and has a rectangular shape, forming the east side of the foldyard. The building is single storey and features 14 bays on its west side. There are six central round-arched openings, flanked by four narrower round-headed openings, a single segmental-headed window to the right, and a pair of segmental-headed doors along with a single window to the left. Seven of the openings have board doors, while the others are either without doors or have been later blocked. The right return of the building includes a pair of segmental-headed board stable doors, a row of pipe breathers, stepped eaves, and tumbled-in brickwork at the gable. This structure is part of a series of mid-19th century Crown estate buildings designed by Teulon and is included for its group value.
