Description

Keldgate Manor is a house dating from around 1700, with alterations made in the early 19th century. It is constructed of painted stucco and has three storeys. The front elevation originally had two windows on the first floor, with the remainder of the façade having been filled in during a recent remodelling. Rusticated quoins are present. The cornice features coupled brackets with paterae, and there is an iron gutter. The roof is slate-covered. The rear elevation presents an informal appearance, while the garden front has a projecting three-storey porch with sash windows containing glazing bars. The front door has six panels (four fielded) and a fanlight with glazing bars. A canted, three-storey bay window is also present. Inside, the house contains a good 19th-century staircase with spiral curtail steps, leading to a spacious, square hall. The hall is galleried on the first floor and features a mahogany balustrade. Notable internal features include good doors, chimney pieces, and a cupboard in a ground-floor room. This room has panelled pilasters and a round arch with a keystone.
