Description

Westfield House is an early 18th-century house with alterations and additions dating to the 19th century, and renovations undertaken in 1985-86. Constructed of brick, the exterior is colour-washed and the roof is tiled with pantiles. The house originally comprised a two-room central lobby-entry plan, with a later continuous rear outshut extending to the rear. It is two storeys high with an attic, and the facade is symmetrical, featuring three bays. A recessed 20th-century half-glazed door is flanked by 16-pane sliding sash windows set within cambered brick arches and having sills. Three matching sash windows are located on the first floor. A dentilled brick cornice runs along the eaves. A central brick stack is present, featuring a band and a corbelled cornice. The interior retains a good inglenook fireplace on the ground floor to the left, with a chamfered, cranked timber bressumer. A similar, truncated bressumer is found on the ground floor to the right. A good pegged oak collared rafter roof exists, with pairs of staggered butt purlins.
