Description
No. 65 Flemingate is an early 18th-century building that stands two storeys tall, constructed from colourwashed brick and topped with a new pantile roof. The façade features three windows above two, with restored glazing bars. The entrance consists of a six-panel door with a three-light rectangular fanlight above it. The doorway, dating from around 1800, is adorned with pilasters, an entablature, and a cornice, and includes an inset foot scraper. The lower section is rendered below the plinth height, while the eaves cornice is plaster-covered and now features wooden spouting supported by iron brackets. The gable end displays tumbled brickwork. Inside, the staircase has a closed string, turned balusters, a moulded handrail, plain newels, and fielded panelling up to dado level. The rear wing contains a room with massive ceiling joists.
