Description

Brantingham Hall is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a pantiled roof. The main block is three storeys high and five bays wide, with a two-storey, three-bay rear range extending under a two-span roof. The central bay projects slightly and is topped by a low pediment. The main entrance features a four-panel door with bolection moulding, an overlight with Gothic trefoil glazing bars, and a decorative Ionic doorcase with fluted pilasters, a pulvinated frieze, dentilled eaves, and raked cornices. To either side of the entrance are four-pane sash windows with sills, set under flat, gauged brick arches. The first floor has five similar sash windows, with the central window having a bracketed sill. The second floor has five smaller sash windows, the central one again with a bracketed sill. The eaves are ornamented with modillions, and the cornices are raked. The roof has end stacks, raised coped gables on shaped kneelers. The rear range has a door with six Gothic panels and an overlight with Gothic glazing bars. It also features sixteen-pane sash windows with Gothic glazing and sills under flat brick arches. Roof dormers have two-light sliding sashes with glazing bars under catslide roofs. A raised gable and an axial stack are also present on the rear range.
