Description
The King's Head Hotel is a mid-18th century building that was altered in the early 19th century. It stands three storeys tall, constructed in painted stucco with a slate roof. The building features paired eaves brackets and rusticated quoins. There are five hung sash windows with glazing bars on the first and second floors, with the central window on the first floor being arched and flanked by coupled pilasters and a wide archivolt. A stone Greek Doric porch, painted and supported by two unfluted columns, is located over the entrance, which is adorned with iron railings. The main door is notable for its four large sunk and moulded panels and an 18th-century iron latch. Additionally, there are two recent canted bay windows, likely built on early bases. Inside, there is a mid-18th century staircase featuring a closed string, turned balusters, plain newels, and a simply moulded handrail.
