Description

Riplingham House is a house dating from the mid-to-late 18th century. It is constructed of dark red brick with a timber eaves cornice and slate roofs. The main three-story, three-bay section presents a symmetrical facade. The central panelled front door is within a pilastered doorcase topped with a pediment, and is flanked to the right and left by late 19th-century canted bays with sashes containing glazing bars. The first floor has three sashes with sills and glazing bars, set under wedge lintels. The second floor has three unequal nine-pane sashes with sills, also under wedge lintels. A moulded timber eaves cornice runs around the building, above which is a two-span roof with raised, coped gables on shaped kneelers and end stacks. To the left is a two-story, single-bay range with a gable front, concealed behind a ramped parapet. The ground floor of this range has a glazed garden door, while the first floor features a sash window with glazing bars and a sill, set under a flat, gauged brick arch.
