Description
The Buoy Master's House and Buoy Store, built around 1836, is a house and store located on the east side of Hilbre Island in Hoylake. The building features a roughcast exterior and a slate roof, designed in an L-shape. The house has two storeys and three bays, with a one-storey wing attached to the left side. The windows are sashed and include glazing bars. The central entrance to the house has an overlight with glazing bars and a four-panel door. The wing, originally used for buoy storage, has mostly been converted for domestic use and features a gable at the end bay with a small bell attached. The south facade has casement windows, while the north side has sashed windows with glazing bars. There is a 20th-century porch at the entrance and a side entrance with paired doors leading to the store in the end bay. The house has two gable-end stacks and a small stack on the wing.
