Description
The Telegraph Station, built in 1841 for the Liverpool Dock Trustees, is a Grade II listed building located on Hilbre Island in Hoylake. It is constructed of painted stone and features a slate roof. The building is a single storey with a distinctive bowed north end, which includes small-paned glazing and four brass gimbals for telescopes. The east facade has a timber platform and an elliptical-headed entrance, while the south end is hipped. This station was part of a relay of seven stations that transmitted information about merchant ships sailing to Liverpool.
