Description
The Church of Saint Andrew is a Presbyterian church built in 1823 by John Foster. It features a stone front and stuccoed sides. The design includes a recessed Ionic portico in antis, which is topped by a balustraded attic. On either side of the portico, there are small towers with saucer domes, each having a window on every face framed by Corinthian aedicules. The ground floor has blind windows set in battered architraves and four entrances, two of which are located in the porch returns, also with battered architraves. The returns feature round-headed windows on two levels. The interior was gutted by fire in 1984, resulting in the collapse of one tower and the balustrades, leaving the building in a distinguished but desperate condition.
