Description

Church Cottages comprises four houses, built in 1872. The houses are constructed of brick with blue brick bands and stone dressings, and have a fishscale slate roof with tile cresting. They are two storeys high, with four bays. The end bays feature timbered jettied first floors under gables. The windows on the ground floor are mullioned, with two, three, or four lights, and sashes. Central bays have relieving arches over the ground floor windows. The first-floor windows are casements with leaded glazing to the upper lights, those in the central bays being gabled. Half-dormers are present. A central, hipped slate canopy shelters a paired entrance with half-glazed doors. Four clustered stacks are visible. The returns of the houses have gabled timber porches and timber framing to the first floor. An inserted casement has replaced a ground-floor window in the first bay.
