Description

This is a terrace of houses at 9-15 Lord Nelson Street. The terrace dates to the early 19th century, with No. 15 specifically dated 1808. The buildings are constructed of brick, with some areas stuccoed, and have slate roofs. Each house has three storeys and a basement, with two bays per house. The windows have wedge lintels, and most are sash windows. A top cornice is present, and there are brick end stacks. The panelled doors are set within Doric surrounds featuring round-arched heads and open pediments. No. 9 has an artificial stone facing and 20th-century casement windows; No. 11 has a rendered ground floor. Some windows have been altered; specifically, the second-floor windows on one house are casements, one has glazing bars to the upper sashes, and another has leaded casements and a fanlight. An entrance features an entablature and a leaded fanlight. A rainwater head is dated 1808.
