Description
No. 24 Fishergate is a shop built around 1880, with some alterations. The building is stuccoed and has a slate roof. It has a narrow rectangular shape on a corner site, featuring a canted corner and is designed in the Italianate style. The structure has three storeys, with one narrow bay facing Fishergate and four bays along Guildhall Street. The ground floor has a 20th-century shop front. Each upper floor has pilasters between the bays, adorned with foliated capitals, and there is a panelled band between the floors, topped by a prominent bracketed cornice. The first floor features coupled round-headed windows with shafts and keyed surrounds, while the second floor has coupled segmental-headed windows. The fenestration along Guildhall Street is similar, except for the second bay, which has coupled square-headed windows with a pediment on the first floor and a Venetian window on the second floor. The roof is hipped and has two chimneys on the side walls. The interior has not been inspected.
