Description
LANCASTER
SD46SE QUERNMORE ROAD 1685-1/1/257 (South side (off)) WC cubicle immediately S of west porch of Church of St Michael, Moor Hospital
GV II
WC cubicle. Late C19. Cast-iron. Rectangular plan, roofless, and designed on a module of square panels between uprights, 2 on the short sides and 3 on the long sides. The cubicle occupies an area one panel by 2 panels and is reached by a passageway which runs around 2 of its sides. The panels are decorated with interlace patterns in low relief. On elevation there is a row of perforated half-height panels at the base, then a row of solid panels, and above that a row of perforated full-sized panels below a final half-height row which is pierced with 2 rows of slots. The cubicle door is now removed but the hinge and striking plate positions are visible. The foundry marks are mostly illegible, but include the word 'Glasgow'.
