Description
The water closet cubicle, located immediately north of the apse of the Church of St Michael at Moor Hospital, dates from the late 19th century and is made of cast iron. It has a rectangular plan and is roofless, designed with square panels set between uprights, featuring two panels on the short sides and three on the long sides. The cubicle occupies an area of one panel by two panels and is accessed by a passageway that runs around two of its sides. The panels are adorned with interlace patterns in low relief. The elevation includes a row of perforated half-height panels at the base, followed by a row of solid panels, then a row of perforated full-sized panels, and finally a half-height row with two rows of slots. Above this is a cornice with cresting. Although the door has been removed, the positions for the hinge and striking plate are still visible. The foundry marks are mostly illegible but include the word 'Glasgow'.
