Description

Lower Lee, also known as Kenyon's Farmhouse, is a house dating from 1694, which has been altered in the late 18th century. It is constructed of sandstone rubble and features a slate roof. The house is two storeys high and the earliest part consists of four bays. The windows have plain stone surrounds and are mostly sashed, except for those in the right-hand bay, which are sashed with glazing bars. The ground-floor window in this bay has paired sashes with a central stone mullion. The door, located in the third bay, has a moulded surround with a shaped lintel inscribed 'RHA 1694' and is topped with a hood. Drip courses have been cut back over both storeys.

To the right of the main house is a one-bay addition that also features sashed windows with glazing bars and plain stone surrounds. On the left side, an additional gable wall has been constructed against the original wall, likely to accommodate flues for added fireplaces. There are chimneys on the gables and to the right of the original house. Inside, the farmhouse has boxed beams, with one beam in the room to the right of the doorway positioned to have functioned as a firehood bressumer. The right-hand addition contains a fixed dresser with a moulded cornice and a row of pigeon holes along the bottom shelf.

The barn adjacent to the farmhouse on the right has breathers and a blocked door with a stone surround. The right-hand end of the barn is wider, slightly projecting forward, and includes a window with a stone surround. At the rear of the barn, there are two wide entrances: the left-hand one is within the wider end and the right-hand one features a concrete lintel. Lower Lee Farmhouse serves as a rear wing of Lower Lee and has late 18th-century windows with plain stone surrounds.
