Description
No. 706 on Warrington Road is a house that likely dates from the late 18th century and was remodeled in the 19th century. The building is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond with sandstone dressings and has a slate roof. It features a double-depth, single-fronted plan with two storeys and one window. The doorway is located to the left, adjacent to No. 704, and has a plain overlight and a plain rectangular lintel. There is one large rectangular window on each floor, both with plain rectangular lintels and 20th-century 9-pane glazing that resembles that of No. 704. Some vertical joints and part of a segmental window head in the brickwork indicate that there were earlier windows. The right-hand gable wall displays faded painted lettering, including the words "Ales" and "Hotel." The interior has not been inspected. This house forms a group with the adjoining No. 704 on the left.
