Description

Wellington Mill is a cotton mill constructed in the 1830s, later used as Ward's Hat Works. The main elevation fronts Wellington Road South, rising to seven storeys and built of brick with a slate roof and coped gable ends. It has 18 windows, each with slightly segmental arches and glazing bars, and includes modern doors. A factory chimney stands to the rear. The Wellington Road elevation features a rounded angle turret with one window per storey, each with glazing bars. The interior retains a characteristic structure of cast-iron beams and pillars supporting brick arches.
